The FTX estate's July 31, 2026 distribution — the fifth major payout of approximately $900 million — is the latest creditor round. If you missed the June 16 record date and didn't receive funds, you likely have questions: Is my claim gone? Is there another round? What do I need to do now?
This guide answers all of those questions clearly.
What Was the July 31 Distribution?
July 31, 2026 was the date of the FTX estate's fifth creditor distribution — approximately $900 million — paid to eligible creditors who had completed all required steps by the June 16, 2026 record date. Those steps included:
- Filing a proof of claim via the Kroll portal before September 2023
- Completing identity verification (KYC)
- Submitting a tax form (W-9 or W-8BEN)
- Linking a payout provider (Payoneer or BitGo)
By July 31, the FTX estate has returned nearly $10 billion to creditors since distributions started in 2025. Creditors who completed all steps and were captured in the June 16 record date received their payment on or around July 31.
My Claim Is Valid But I Didn't Get Paid — Why?
If your claim was filed but you hadn't completed KYC, linked a payout provider, or submitted your tax form by June 16, 2026, you were not included in this round. Your claim is still valid — you just missed this particular payout window.
Other reasons you might not have been paid even with a complete setup:
- Disputed claim — the estate challenged the amount or validity of your claim
- Convenience class — claims of $50,000 or less may be handled in separate batches
- Account hold — your payout provider account may require additional verification
Is There a Next FTX Distribution Round?
Yes. The FTX Plan of Reorganization explicitly provides for multiple distribution rounds. The estate holds billions in recovered assets and will continue distributing to creditors over time as:
- Additional assets are liquidated and converted to cash
- Disputed claims are resolved
- Creditors who missed earlier steps complete their setup
No official date for the next round has been announced yet. The FTX estate publishes updates at ftxcreditor.com. Monitor that site and your Kroll portal account for announcements.
What You Should Do Right Now
- 1Log into your Kroll claims portal account and check your claim status. Confirm it shows "Allowed" not "Disputed" or "Pending".
- 2Complete any outstanding steps: KYC verification, tax form, and payout provider setup. Even if you missed July 31, doing this now positions you for the next round.
- 3Check your Payoneer or BitGo account if you had set one up. Payments from July 31 may still be processing or pending in your account.
- 4Watch ftxcreditor.com for the announcement of the next distribution record date. Once announced, you'll have a deadline to complete any outstanding requirements.
What If My Claim Was Disputed?
If the FTX estate disputed your claim amount, you will see this reflected in your Kroll portal. Disputed claims go through an objection process. You can respond to objections, provide supporting documentation, and negotiate a settlement. Many disputed claims are eventually resolved — often at a reduced amount. If you have a disputed claim, consult a bankruptcy attorney who specialises in the FTX case.
Scam alert: Following the distribution, fraudsters are targeting FTX creditors with fake "uncollected payment" emails and WhatsApp messages. The only legitimate FTX communication comes through your registered Kroll portal email. Do not click links from unknown sources claiming you have unclaimed FTX funds.
What If I Never Filed a Claim at All?
If you had funds on FTX at the time of bankruptcy in November 2022 and never filed a proof of claim with Kroll by September 29, 2023, your situation is more difficult. Late claims require petitioning the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware and demonstrating cause for the late filing. This typically requires a bankruptcy attorney. The FTX estate has been strict about late filings, so this is not guaranteed to succeed.

Does missing the July 31 deadline mean I lose my FTX claim?
Not necessarily. The July 31, 2026 deadline specifically applied to the opt-out form for the third-party release, and to certain ballots and election forms related to the FTX recovery plan. If you had already filed a proof of claim before the 2023 bar date, your underlying claim is still valid. What you may have lost by missing July 31 is the ability to opt out of releasing third-party claims (such as claims against FTX affiliates, insiders, or advisers). For most retail creditors, the July 31 deadline was procedural rather than a deadline on receiving your distribution. Log in to claims.ftx.com to check your specific claim status.
Can I still complete KYC verification after July 31, 2026?
Yes — KYC verification through BitGo remains available to FTX creditors who have not yet completed it. KYC is required before any distribution can be released to you. If you have a valid, approved claim but have not completed KYC, your funds are being held pending that verification. Complete KYC as soon as possible at claims.ftx.com through the BitGo identity verification link. There is no specific deadline for KYC completion that has been publicly announced as of mid-2026, but distributions to unverified creditors will continue to be held until verification is done.
When will remaining FTX distributions be paid?
FTX's estate continues to make distributions as additional assets are recovered from litigation, asset sales, and other sources. The estate has recovered significantly more than the original estimates, including from the sale of Anthropic equity, real estate, and other investments made by FTX before the collapse. Additional distributions are expected as further recoveries are finalised, but no firm dates have been announced beyond what the Kroll portal shows for individual claim schedules. Subscribe to updates on the Kroll portal and check claims.ftx.com periodically for the latest distribution announcements.
What if my FTX claim is still disputed or under review?
Disputed claims are resolved through the bankruptcy claims reconciliation process. If your claim was marked as "disputed" by the FTX estate, the estate's counsel will either file a claim objection (in which case you have the right to respond), or the dispute will be resolved administratively. You can view the status of your claim and any pending objections on the Kroll portal. If an objection has been filed against your claim, you should respond by the deadline specified in the objection notice. Creditors with disputed claims may have their distributions held in reserve until the dispute is resolved, at which point they receive their full distribution if the claim is allowed.
