Voyager Digital has distributed over $1.8 billion to creditors โ a 70%+ recovery rate against claim values at the July 2022 filing date. Two major distribution rounds are complete. A potential third distribution depends on pending litigation. The estate is expected to close by late 2026. Check your claim status at investvoyager.com/claim.
What Happened to Voyager Digital?
Voyager Digital was a publicly traded crypto broker with approximately 3.5 million total customers at the time of its collapse, 1.1 million of whom were active users. It filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on July 6, 2022 โ one of the first major crypto firm bankruptcies of that era.
The collapse was triggered by crypto hedge fund Three Arrows Capital (3AC) defaulting on a loan of approximately $665 million (comprising 15,250 BTC and $350 million USDC) that 3AC had borrowed from Voyager. When 3AC collapsed in June 2022, Voyager could not absorb the loss.
Attempted acquisitions by both Binance US and FTX fell through, and Voyager ultimately proceeded with an independent wind-down under court supervision. Despite the difficult circumstances, the recovery outcome for creditors has been significantly better than most expected.
How Much Has Been Distributed?
| Distribution Round | Amount | Status |
|---|---|---|
| First Distribution | ~$1.33 billion | Completed โ |
| Second Distribution | ~$500 million+ | Completed โ |
| Third Distribution | TBD (pending litigation) | Pending |
Total recovered so far: over $1.8 billion, representing a recovery rate of approximately 70%+ of allowed claim values at the July 2022 filing date. The final recovery rate will depend on the outcome of pending litigation against Three Arrows Capital's liquidators and other pending matters.
Voyager distributions were paid in US dollars based on the value of your crypto holdings at the bankruptcy filing date (July 2022) โ not in actual cryptocurrency, and not at today's prices. If you held Bitcoin at ~$20,000 per BTC in July 2022 and it's now worth much more, your claim was locked at the July 2022 price. This is standard in US bankruptcy proceedings.

Will There Be a Third Voyager Distribution?
A third distribution is possible but not guaranteed. It depends primarily on the outcome of proceedings against Three Arrows Capital (3AC) โ the hedge fund whose default triggered Voyager's collapse. The 3AC liquidation is ongoing in multiple jurisdictions.
The Voyager estate is also pursuing other claims and litigation. If recoveries are made, they will be distributed to creditors as part of a final round before the estate closes.
The most important thing creditors can do right now is ensure their contact information in the Voyager portal is current, so they receive notification of any future distribution announcement.
Log in to investvoyager.com/claim and verify your contact details, banking information, and KYC status are current. If a third distribution is announced, you'll need these details to be correct to receive payment. Also check your email spam folder regularly for official estate communications.
